THE NETHERLANDS: Netherlands tax authorities seize furniture and computers of poker player intending to emigrate from the Netherlands to Malta

It has been reported that the Netherlands tax authorities have recently seized properties of a Netherlands professional poker player. The poker player apparently initiated talks with the Netherlands tax authorities regarding their claim on his previous gains derived by playing poker in foreign tournaments and on the internet. During these talks he mentioned that he was planning to emigrate to Malta, reportedly in order to clear his mind from the trouble the Netherlands tax authorities were giving him. As a reaction, the Netherlands tax authorities have now seized his furniture and one or more computers. Reportedly, more Netherlands professional poker players have emigrated from the Netherlands to inter alia the Czech Republic and Malta.
