A new University Academy (UA92) has been set up, in collaboration with Lancaster University, by former Manchester United ‘stars’ of the class of 1992, Gary Neville, Phil Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt.
The new University will be led by its CEO, Professor Craig Gaskell, who is also Professor of Higher Education Enterprise at Lancaster University.
Gary Neville, one of the founders, described the objectives of UA92 as follows:
“Our vision is to create a new and exciting education opportunity for students that delivers great results and equips them with the skills they need for promising futures.”
Prof Gaskell added:
“UA92 is founded on strong partnerships, fresh thinking and a drive to ensure students have a first-class modern university experience that is genuinely life changing …. [and that] UA92 becomes a sector leader.”
The new University will offer degrees, which will be awarded by Lancaster University, in a range of subjects in business, media and sport, including a BSc (Hons) in Sports and Exercise Science, and will receive its first undergraduates in September.
Further information may be obtained from the UA92 website at ‘www.ua92.ac.uk’.
We wish this new enterprise well!
